Tell us a little about yourself…

I’m Selina Yang- a triple Leo, model and actress living between New York and Melbourne.

What is on your list of ‘must-do’s’ for those visiting New York for the first time?

Definitely see a broadway show, go thrifting in Brooklyn, and I feel like you have to see Times Square at least once just to experience it. I love the West Village and Chelsea, and for the best Asian food definitely visit East Village.

Alongside modelling, you’re also an actress. Have you found any similarities between the two?

This is something I learned recently, but with modelling I always just thought of the poses. I think acting has taught me how to embody the character by looking at the styling and mood of the shoot- I feel makes the end result look more interesting.

Is there anything great you’re currently reading, watching and listening to?

The last book I read which I really enjoyed was ‘Crying in H Mart’ by Michelle Zauner- I balled my eyes out but it was amazing! I’m currently watching Barry, it's an older show with Bill Hader as a hitman who wants to get out of the life so he starts taking acting classes - which feels fitting because i’m doing acting classes in New York. It’s hilarious and so well written. Im listening to podcast called ‘Celebrity Memoir Book Club’ and then for music i’ve just been listening to Sabrina Carpenter’s new album on repeat.

How do you incorporate jewellery with your styling?

I love pieces that are quite dainty and minimal. I gravitate towards pieces that will go with everything and that you can wear everyday. You can’t really go wrong with a pair of earrings and a dainty necklace.

How would you describe your personal style?

Most of my pieces are thrifted, because I find it quite overwhelming going to the shops and there's just so many choices. I love thrifting because when you find a piece that you love it's almost like it chooses you. So i’d say my personal style is whatever is good in the thrift store and then matching it back with what I already own. Quite neutral with elevated basics.
